The Position
This is a newly created position within the business, established in response to recent growth and expansion. As a Field Research Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the company's innovative research and development efforts, with a focus on enhancing production practices and advancing plant varieties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement trial and breeding plans
- Conduct field research, including applying treatments, data collection, and trial monitoring
- Oversee chemical applications, pest control, and plant propagation
- Analyse data, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings to agronomists and growers
- Collaborate with a close-knit team and contribute to a safe, productive work environment
- Maintain data integrity
The Person
You’re a motivated, hands-on professional with a strong interest in practical in-field research. While experience in pyrethrum is not required, you’ll bring enthusiasm, adaptability, and a commitment to learning.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- Experience in field trials, agronomy, or plant breeding (replicated in-field trials experience is advantageous)
- Strong organisational and attention-to-detail skills
- A degree in agriculture, horticulture, or related field
- A genuine passion for agriculture and horticulture
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with growers and field staff
